As sturdy as a word of truth
With power like a loving deed
The essence of strength which others pursue
Embodied in one tiny seed
Blades, storm, mean nothing to you
Neither the time nor the tide
Worries incapable, no fears can undo
The fortitude possessed inside
And as I ponder your steadfast ways
I am greeted by a creature of green
To know such secure and worriless days
Something only my dreams have seen
So, one of your twigs may I carry with me?
To bring me some security
As I’m wishing now to be more like thee
In this, my ode to the redwood tree
